SJ Plans UPDATE

OK fellas - I just got the quote to have them printed at my local Kinkos - the price is going to be 20.00 per set + shipping. My cost is a little over 5.00 per sheet - (3 sheets per plan) then I have to pick-up, collate, fold and package them. I'm not sure I can continue to do this at this price, for future orders I will bump the price up a bit, to 25.00 plus shipping. So get them now if you want'em!

I'm going to order a set for each person that spoke up in the SJ PLANS thread below - plus a few extra's. IF YOU DONT WANT TO PAY 20.00 PLUS SHIPPING TELL ME NOW and ill reduce the order by that amount

I can provide DWF electronic files but not all Kinko's and such printing companies can print them or are willing to install the software to print them. we are still trying to work out the kinks. It may be that PDF files will have to be the format but I don't have the software to write to a PDF.MichaelP38464.5990856482

So how do I go about getting those instead of the hard copies?

For making a copy of guitar plans my local print shop sent me to a company that prints constructions site plans. If a town has an architect in it there should also be someone who prints plans that size. Would a company like that be able to print DWF files?

For the plans, is a DWF file compatible with Autocad? If so, is it possible to get an electronic copy of the plans?

Hi Ray - I should let Michael Payne answer this, but I believe Yes - a DWF file is compatible, as Michale did these using autocad.

Ray, DWF is an view only Autodesk format designed to allow end user to view and print only,AutoCad drawings. You can not copy the file, rename the file or alter in any way You can only view and print from AutoDesk's DWF Viwer software. You can not view in AutoCad. This is so that your work is 100% write protected. The viewer software is free. This is AutoDesk's answer to PDF. So If your question is can I open this file in AutoCad the answer is no. If your question is is this a file generated by AutoCad the answer is yes. You can get the free viewer and learn more about the format at www.AutoDesk.com

i may have been under the apparent misapprehension that your use of the term sj for these plans was in keeping with the long accepted useage of sj to refer to the gibson southern jumbo,or j45 type. discussion in another thread has caused me to think i may be incorrect. could you please clarify.crazymanmichael38472.5603935185

don, in his above post, has confirmed my misunderstanding of your use of the term sj. i realy have no interest whatsoever in building anything in the shape of a j185.

if you can find anyone interested in the two sets i ordered it would be appreciated.

Correct me if I am wrong but did not Olson base his SJ on the J-185 shape, just smaller? I seem to recall Olson saying that onece. A J-185 shape coser to the size of an OM.

I didn't have Olson's dimension. I got my dimensions from Lance's old SJ form that I bought from him early this year. Until I bought the form from Lance I had not built SJ's. The dim's are:

15 1/2 LB
11 5/8 UB
19 15/16 body LEN.
4 1/2 Max Depth
3 7/8 Min Depth
6 from neck/body joint to center of soundhole
6 3/4 from neck/body joint to centerline of waist valley
