I would like to buy some Mahogany, EI Rosewood, Western Red Cedar, Spruce, and Ebony in the rough. Does anybody know of a local lumber yard near Quakertown, Pa (30 miles north of Philadelphia., Pa) that has some or all of these with enough width? I am really hard pressed for EI Rosewood.

I am starting my second and am still not ready to go out and purchase high end tone woods from all of the various suppliers. If the quality is close, that is good enough for me at this point. I would really like to have some material on hand. I love to mill wood myself as I have the equipment to do it.

I tried Hearn Hardwood (Oxford, Pa), but they are out of EI Rosewood. I tried Groff Lumber, but their EI Rosewood is only 3” wide.

No I haven't bought from them, they are about a week away from me but I think the Zootman has purchased wood from them. You might send BobC a PM and ask him.

There is a place in NJ that everyone goes to. Sorry, I forget their name. I'll check with my MIL if you want.

exotic woods in sicklerville may be the place you are refering to.

there are a number of places. I carry EIR I only deal in master grade. Grizzly up in muncy PA carried Mahogany EIR and some other woods and is worth the trip
there is PM wood products in Hazelton PA but they do big orders and tech woods in Bethel Pa
   I know of a few dealers in Baltimore but I can't rememeber thier name. There is the ASIA symposium in Maryland ( westminster ) check the website and there will be suppliers there

Hi Doug,
BobC is your guy. (As well as several others on this forum). All great people. I have bought from them all and each and every one has been very helpful and informative. Remember, if you buy "green" wood it's going to be awhile before you can start using it. I would recommend getting something that you can use now. Some sets are very reasonable and are great tonewoods. They are less expensive only because demand is not up to the others. I remember when Bubinga wasn't being used at all and it was very cheap. Now everyone has built at least one! And the price has gone up!

No, it's something like Wilke -- I probably have that very wrong. My MIL went there when she was looking for a cabinetmaker to build her some furniture. I'll see if she remembers the name.
