I'm getting ready to start making a go-bar decck and it occurred to me there are a number of ways to approach the size issue. I'm sonewhat space-restricted so I'm thinking that a size to comfortably fit a soundboard (classical size for now) should be sufficient, ie 18" x 24".

Is my reasoning sound (no pun intended, ) or is there a reason to make it larger? I realize that making the deck is no great problem and the threaded uprights are all re-usable but I thought it worth asking.

Thanks, Steve Brownsfbrown38486.9454166667

I made mine 24"x24" and my radius dishes fit right in there, nicely.

I also put mine on top of a lazy susan bearing. Having it spin is really great and makes for easy glue clean-up

I'm also restricted as to available space. I took advantage of a shelf suspended off of the ceiling, used the bottom of that for my "top" and then made my "deck" 24"x24" and hinged it off the wall 48" below the before mentioned shelf.

When not in use it takes up virtually no space and when I need it I swing it up and two lengths of chain (to the wall) hold it up.

I was gonna do a 2'x4' table this way for a double go-bar deck but it was a bit much.

My go-bar deck is my desk. It's made of MDF, very heavy, and has a boatload of stuff on it (as well as a 50lb Rivera rack-mount tube amp) weighing it down further.
