Anyone notice that lately the ZOOTMAN has not been making the usual number of posts? He's stuffing that huge adjustable sack of his with the wood that invades our dreams but, he does know who has been naughty or nice.

Well I have been pretty busy getting ready for ASIA. I came across some 3" thick slices off a log that have been air drying in my shop for at least 15 years and decided to slice some up. Bluish grey spalt around the perimeter and no spalt in the center area. Here are a few pic's of some bookmatched slices. Do you see what I see?

Bob that is just awesome. You should not have posted those pictures, you won't have any left to take to ASIA.    Not sure what I could do with it, but that is so cool. Hmmmmmmm...........

Well how about a headstock overlay or a rosette? Of course the rosette would loose all the pattern. So doesn't anyone want to know what the wood is? I'm off to gradaughters first communion. Answer later today.Bobc38486.4158912037

You know, if you said that you could see the virgin Mary in there, you could probably sell it on ebay for $1000s of dollars. The first thing I saw was an Owl's head. Then I saw, well, let's just say my mind was in the gutter. Nice stuff though. I'm going to guess spalted Birch.

I think I went through the same thought process myself! Proves that brilliant minds think alike.

I see an owl too.. What you need to do is pick a random biblical figure, say it's them and throw it on ebay

So how many sets of that are you going to have?

Well I took the piece to the communion party and 8 out of 10 people there saw a monkey or a baboon. Any how it is lightly spalted Apple crotch. Taken from 3 round 3" thick slices thru the tree. I had forgotten I even had it.

It's obviously a cryptic message left by space aliens! If incorporated into a guitar, it will reveal the secrets of the universe in musical tones!

Bob--Send me enough for a rosette or two...or four.

By the way, the Ambrosia rosette is the prettiest one I've ever done. Mucho thanks, amigo.

Now--back to the Spalted apple crotch. Must have--and, enough for a matching P/H overlay.
