Say, I remember reading somewhere a while back, (possibly on that "other" forum that I try and stay out of now ) about a reasonable source for ordering custom router/shaper cutters...anyone know of a place like that?

Thanks,
Larry

http://www.routerbits.com carries a full selection of Whiteside bits at pretty reasonable (I think) prices, and does custom (Whiteside) bits as well. No experience with that, though..

I am curious John... why don't you use it? It looks like you could rough in a neck really fast with that.

I think Tracy Leveque can fix you right up. Why don't you try him?

Brock, I think he's saying he showed it in his Neck DVD, but didn't use it in the making of said DVD.

right Mattia. I use it on every neck but I did the back of the neck on the
DVD with a Belt Sander because I figured 99.9999% of people would not
have a bit like I did and showing the process would not help anyone, so I
showed a way most do have access too. I did want to mention it in the
video because it may be a option for some to have one made (they are
pricey at $150-$250) but man oh man has this thing been a enormous
time saver. I just took a profile of my necks and sent it off and the bit
came back and I've been using it for years now.. have not even have to
have it sharpened yet...

Ok, thanks John (and others). I thought that seemed like a good idea, I was just curious when you said you didn't use it.

Charlie Hoffman also uses a custom bit like this for neck shaping. He has a good building description on his website.    Neck shaping
