I have A couple of beautiful Englemann bearclawed soundboards and I was wondering if they would be good candidates for my SJ and OOO plans? These would be my first acoustics, I'm a classical builder and I'm a little fuzzy about where the soundboard thickness should on these acoustics. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Edward. I start Dread's at .125 in., SJ's at .120 in. and OM's and OOO's at .115 in. This is in general and dependent on the stffness of the top. Several of my OM's have been as thin as .100 after voicing. the only bearclaw I have used has been Caucasin and it is on an OM and in the bracing stage at present. I thinned it to .112 prior to bracing.MichaelP38490.5753356482

My tops will vary by stiffness, but normally an englemann top will roughly
.135-.120
