The jig is robust and very well designed and built. The instructions and pictures that come with the tool leave nothing to the imagination...very good for me. The jig centers the headstock securely and tightly hugs it in width and thickness. The holes get drilled first followed by routing of the slots. Everything went as advertised in the instructions and there were no complications. I used a PC laminate trimmer and guide bushings along with a 1/4" spiral upcut bit(they recommend a downcut bit). I took really thin passes and it took 30 minutes to complete the holes and rout, but I'm sure the time could be cut considerably. And best of all...the Waverlies fit perfectly after it was all done. Having used the LMI fixture and now this I can say that the Luthiertool jig is far easier and exacting. |

JJ, I have the jig also. I think it is great and easy to use. Did you do yours before or after the headstock overlay was on? Jeff |

John...I'll shoot some pics tonight. Jeff...I did the headstock after the overlay was in place. Doing otherwise could require you to re-rout and possibly be off registration. Also, the hole locations might not be properly positioned. |

That's a great looking headstock JJ -- I can't wait until my jig shows up in the mail. Also, your #2 guitar pictured in the other thread looks great! I can't believe some you build such great guitars for your #2 instrument. I guess it just comes naturally for some. Cheers! John |
