I'm glad you like it. The photo really stinks on this one. For some reason it's extremely hard to photograph. I normally have a relatively hard time, but this ones worse for some reason. Especially the pink mussel. I enjoyed this one so much I am considering dedicating a whole guitar to this theme. John K. is going to kill me, but, it'll be fun! Thanks again! See you all at ASIA. Or, well, some of you guys anyway! |

Once again, incredible use of the shell's natural reflective properties! Anyone can cut pearl; few can use it like this man does. Way to go, Craig! |

I can do anything different than anything else. I prefer to do real animals, and odd species that are just flat out cool like this guy. Steve Kinnaird had a beetle idea.. I hope it comes through! I did a golden orbweaver spider once for John Kinnaird. That guitar is going to ASIA with me actually. Luckily this client like my art relative to his original idea, a bird. I got to do this one. I have been wanting to add a red eye tree frog to my list! Craig |

O.K Mattia. Gold pearl Green abalone (the back side mostly, with the rippled pattern. I almost never use ther front anymore. Too much uncontrollable color.) Mother of pearl Gaspeit recon stone Lapis recon stone red coral recon stone Pink mussel Malechite recon stone Spiny oyster recon stone Engraved with white, black, red and purple fillers and inks. The long hanging vine to the right of the frog is a wierd piece of green abalone. It was this darkish opaque brown all the way through, with edges that light up white. Craig L |

Craig, That is just incredible! I love it. I'm just wondering how much something like this would cost, materials, labor, etc. You don't have to give the exact figure but just the ballpark. I have no idea how much custom inlay costs. Thanks for sharing! Tracy |

I don't want to discuss pricing online, so e-mail me if your seriously interested. I can tell you this. Each piece is researched, designed, and drawn by me. I never repeate a pattern, and I take my time to try to do things right, like most all of us here. I also have a three month wait list right now. That said, just researching the art and design can take over 5-10 hours. This inlay took about 20 and up hours in total. Most likely more. I tend to loose myself in these things. I know I spent at least 6 hours engraving. It felt like 2! Craig |

Craig! Great job. That looks like that Costa Rican frog, their mascot frog. REally nice job, but sortof what we expect. The orchids and grass look familiar. Err, exactly what do you mean I will kill you? That sounds like trouble. ![]() |

I'm getting ready for ASIA now. My latest "show" guitar isn't going to be completed, but I'll bring the inlayed parts. As much as I wanted to rush it I decided not to. This guitar needs to be around long after any four day show! Still lots of inlay and photos of inlay from me at ASIA. See you guys there I hope! ![]() Craig L |
