Okay, I'm blind as a bat or the heat's getting to me...I buffed out a guitar today, and THEN found pores here and there...my question is, how to (A) remove the buffing compound from the pores, (B) what prep is needed to spray another coat of laquer? Larry |

wipe it down with some naphta and spray away. nitro will dissolve itself and link up fine as long as it's clean. |

You may need to use a soft brissle tooth brush or something similar to get the compound out of the pores and I think I'd give it a light sanding then as Micheal said, clean with Naptha. |

Okay, I'll take that advice and run with it guys...say, I think I read on FRETS.com about letting laquer get "thick" for an hour or so, then drop filling pores with it...can the "fills" be sanded and buffed in say, 24hrs. or do they need to cure for a couple weeks like the regular spray coats? Larry |

Larry[/QUOTE] Drop fills usually take longer to set up...since the thicker nitro won't harden as fast. Best would be to clean as described, lightly sand, clean again, drop fill then a day or two later do a light spray coat (or two) of nitro to help blend in the drop fills and leave no witness lines. After suitable dry time, fine sand/wet sand as usual and go back to buffing. |
