Hi again
Has anyone used a classical guitar rosette in a steel string and just made the
soundhole smaller. Is it a problem to make the sound hole 7-10mm smaller
in diameter. (OM style body)

Thanks in Advance
Andy

Andy,

I haven't done this yet. Mostly I build classicals, but I've built one steel string so far. I chose a 4" soundhole diameter for my steel string, and I stick to pretty much standard soundhole diameters for classicals -- typically 3-3/8" or so.

It is my understanding that a smaller soundhole tends to bring out the bass response, but perhaps at the expense of the highs? Not sure. This may be less critical with a steel string.

Best,

Michael
