That's the one. I french polished my first guitar following their method, it turned out pretty good. But I swore I'd never do another. Now, it seems my problem was that I was keeping the muneca too wet. So maybe just one more. 
I just bought a bottle of hard shellac, it'd be a shame not to use it. |

Yes, the Millburn tutorial is a good place to start. The more you do it the easier it gets. IMHO FP is a much underrated finish. I actually enjoy the process. |

I hate it when my muneca is too wet.  The tutorial is nice, but they seriously need some pictures, especially when they are talking about making the muneca.

Making the "muneca" is easy. Use some raw Cotton or Dr Scholl's Wool and put enough in the palm of your hand that you have enough to make a ball, slightly smaller than a golf ball( about 20 % smaller). Then place that in the center of a 4-6" square twist it up so you have that small golf ball and you now have a Muneca. I usually wrap a rubber band around the bottom open end to keep it closed. That also helps me from having to worry about how tight I am keeping the pad as it pretty much stays put. I don't load the pad from the top. I load from the bottom. although when adding oil I will rub a drop or two on the top with my finger. |

Bob, the Milburn tutorial is a good format to follow. It is pretty much how I was taught by my grandfather many years ago. They are very traditional in their method. Filling is really the hardest part. If you use the pumice method be sure not to use too much shellac during the fill process. I now use Zpoxy finishing resign to fill with. It is much faster. Work in a dust free area and take your time. Keep in mind if you mess up you can always fix it with a bit of DA or pure grain alcohol. |
