I'm a little confused..what is the proper way to glue the fretboard on the neck? After the neck has been applied to the body? Or before? What is the best glue to use?....Titebond OK? Thanks |

On a SS I do mine before I put the neck on. I use titebond. |

I also glue the fretboard to the neck before gluing it to the body. I use LMI White. If you were to glue it to the neck after gluing the neck to the body, I think it would be (at least) difficult to true up the edges of the neck to the board, at the neck/body join. |

I treat the whole neck as a seperate woodworking project. That means that I completely assemble and finish it before I attach it to the body. This is an area of building where everybody seems to do it differently. In general that means that all the methods work yet all the methods have some drawbacks. I'll describe my method and point out the good and the bad parts of each step.
As I stated earlier, this is just one of many ways to do this. I suspect that there is nobody else who does it exactly the way I do. That is probably true of most builders. |

Walter, How are you? Well I hope. I always glue my fretboard to the neck before attaching the neck to the body. Also, I think most people like the way it looks when you finish the body and neck seperately and then attach the two. But to each his own. There sure are enough people out there doing it both ways. |
