Hi...Rookie again When you have a cut piece of pearl that you are going to put in the headstock, what type of glue do you use to hold the piece on so you can trace the outline, and get if off without breaking it. Thanks Andy |

They both come off easily wuith Acetone. Just don't try scribing until it is totally dry. About 2 hours at least. Craig L. |
I use white glue, comes off with warm water
So do I. A wee drop of good 'ol Elmer's white, and the inlay will be quite firm in 15 minutes or so. And it lets go easily enough. |

Ussually though I glue down a paper with the shape on it. Mind you any inlay work I do isn't much to shake a stick at. I claim it is because I don't like inlay on guitars. Truth be known I am just bad at inlay. |

Once you develop some skill a simple metal scribe will do. I hold my pearl in positon with that and then use a pencil .3mm and trace the outline. I use my air router at 70000 rpm to cut the wood for the pearl. MSC has decimal end mills that are as small as .005. That is tiny. john hall blues creek guitars ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Payment Details Amount: $25.00 USD Transaction ID: 8YH847398U585403H Subject: D12 form View the details of this transaction online ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Shipping Information Address: Dennis MacPherson 62 colfax Dr. Ringwood, NJ 07456 United States Address Status: Confirmed ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- Thank you for using PayPal!
