I remember reading in a Guitar maker Mag a few years back, an article by Gerald Sheppard about static cling pick guards. This is the material that the oil change stickers are made from, ya know the ones they stick to your windshield -- Anyways, where can that material be had? Id like to include a clear static guard with all my guitars that DONT have a pick guard. Thanks Lance |

GuitarBra Be sure and read everything on the site. Over extended periods they will react with water based and nitro finishes. |

I just get the clear stuff from Stew-Mac and spray a little water and put them down that way, Frank Ford has an awesome article on how to do it. You can remove them later with just a hair dryer... -Paul- |

I'm not going near that one lance... However I would be a bit worried about it moving or sliding if it was just held on with Static.. Also if Don's right you could end up with a problem in your finish, I will tell you that the Blue 3M tape which I LOVE will mottle a nitro finish in under an hour, had to learn that one the hard way. If you look on the inner ring in MICRO print is a disclaimer about that ![]() -Paul- |

Paul, just after I posted that I thought, hmm that sounds sort of funny! ![]() Gerald Sheppard wrote an article in an old Guitar Maker magazine that described this type material and its uses for pick guards. I emailed Gerald this morning and hes told me to check express sign shops for sheets of it. I think its pretty safe, ill let ya know ![]() |
