I haven't posted anything for awhile, and I'm getting the feeling I am not holding up my end of the bargain!

Anyway, here are a couple of pics of one of the oval-holed guitars i am building. This one has EIR back and sides, and an Englemann top. It also has the auxilliary side sound port, for those of you into this kind of thing! The rosette is black and white recon stone. It will have ebony binding with b/w/b purfling.

It's still quite rough (I just glued the top on it today), but you get the idea.....

Here is another pic with the bridge laying on it, so you can get a better idea of the finished guitar:

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics, I think I overcompressed them when I resized This is one of a group that I need to spray soon (as soon as the humidity drops to some liveable level).

Looks great!

Reminds me a lot of the work of Al Beardsell here in Canada. www.beardsellguitars.com

Show us some more pics when it is done.

it will take an octopus to work on it through the soundhole; sorry, that's the repairman talking.

interesting that you oriented the oval longitudinally rather than laterally as most do. when planning one do you calculate the oval area to be equivalent in area to a round hole on an instrument of this size or what?

Lookin' sweet!

How's the humidity over at yours, then? I've been at a steady (if overly hot, due to sub-roof living) 43-47% all week, and it even dropped to a slightly-too-low 35% for a bit. I suspect I'm a bit of an anomaly, but both my analog and digital hygrometer agree, so...
