I'm good on tops but could use some bracewood. 4 of each length. You don't mention the grade of the bracewood so I assume that it's master

Adirondack Red Spruce, Yes it is..... one of the finest woods to ever top a guitar. Just like Colin seems to reach for mahogany for back and sides, I reach for my Addy stash over and over again for tops, including the bracing. I believe it's Bourgeois who uses Adirondack exclusively for bracing.... and I believe Collings too has a propensity to use this species..... My brother in law played my first red spruce, a Grand A! and said, "Wow, that thing's a cannon." I just build 'em, but I'm beginning to listen to those in the know. Long live Red Spruce! |

Update on OLF special: I've had a few emails asking some specific questions about my A grade tops so I thought I'd post a general description of my A grade. A grade tops will tend to be wider grained from 12 gpi to 8 gpi. Some tops will have tighter grain in the center roughly 15 gpi and wider grain toward the edges of the lower bout. These tops are all quartersawn, extremely stiff with the chance of a small localized area of run out. Tonally these tops are AAA but because of the wider grain lines they fall into the A category. If you've ever wanted to try Red spruce but didn't want to fork out $100+, I think you'll be totally satsified with the tone and quality of these tops. Thanks Steve, You always accomodate. Grain width doesn't matter to me as much as weight (very light) and stiff. I prefer that the winter growth be minimal in width as well. I'd also like to up my order to 6 of the 25" and 4 of the 16 " (I sent you an email earlier; before I read this post. Thanks again, |

I stopped by Steves on my way to my parents house (on wednsday)and was looking at some of these tops.....they are bullet proof stiff and they ring like a bell.....which reminds me Steve, I will take 10 sets. |
