Wait a minute, hold on, nobody kicked you off the OLF. Oh yes, I was kicked off the OLF... by myself. It's called self-discipline. And it was painful, because I am addicted. Addicted to guitars, addicted to tools for guitarmaking and most of all, addicted to those with knowledge and artistic expression and a sense of fair play.

I don't know Deb Suran, but if I were to meet her face to face, I bet we could talk guitars 'til sundown, no problem.

I barely know John Hall, but I bet if I were to visit him, we'd have a lot to talk about. He helped me immensely when importing wood from another country, why? Doesn't he sell wood? Of course he does. He helped me because I was cruising through uncharted waters. He knew the way, it was his experience that helped me, no, it was his nature that helped me. He's a good guy, no doubt about it.

Back to kicking myself off the OLF....

Hey, sometimes in life, the good takes the place of the best. The best would be me, down in my shop, cutting, sanding, bending, and gluing. What was I doing online? I was learning, having fun, annoying a few I'm sure. I had my mental excuses for not being in my shop, but that's what they were excuses.

So, I'm back, why? Because I deserve the fellowship of other luthiers, you pay your dues to get into the club. Lots of sweat, lots of math, lots of trial and error... and then, you get it right. Time after time, you conquer problems that in the past said loud and clear, "Rookie Luthier".

I'm posting for one reason. Sanity. Balance. Good Sense. It's okay if John Hall gets bent out of shape over something he's experienced. And it's okay to vent a little, we've all done it. If we malign anyone along the way, well then, it's time to say, hey, "I'm sorry."

I've seen a few I'm sorries over the past couple years on the OLF. Some folks think apologies are for children. Juries always look for remorse when determining sentencing in court cases. Aha, you mean, people can do something and then realize they wish they could undo what they did, yep.

So, I'm back, hopefully I didn't offend anyone by leaving, and hopefully I didn't offend anyone by returning. Now, back to John's situation. Deb really didn't kick him out, she simply suspended his account for a period of time, due to a rule infraction. He can go back, if he wants to.

I appreciate the voices of reason, and I understand the disgust with a system that seems arbitrary to good sense. We can't change that, but we can change us. I want to say that I appreciate the time I used to spend at the MIMF. It's a cool place, but it's old school. So when you go there be sure to observe the thou shalt nots. Now, can you beat the OLF with a stick, nope, you sure can't, it's the best, newest, hottest, turbo-charged luthier's forum on the net.

When I was in college one of my professors who taught the business law class said this, "Don't Over-react". Folks get killed because of that, maligned because of it, forsaken because of it. So, that's my thought for the week.

Bruce...
You're a good o'l Boy!!
And we care about you very much!
Blow as much steam as needed, it's healthy that way.
You and I have butted heads a few times and I'm sorry if I ever offended you too!
Hang in there my friend, and forgive me for all my faults.
Respectfully Yours,
Walter

Offended because you left? Offended because you came back? Nope, I just find you offensive . (Sorry Bruce, leave a pitch hanging over the cheap shot plate and I can't avoid knocking it out of the park. )

Glad you're back with us. I've been hitting some of those same road blocks and blaming it on my shop not being finished.

Bruce, you gotta stop putting headlines up like that! You gave me a real start...first, I hated to see you go over that fiasco, and was delighted to see you back a week or two ago...now I open up the forum to see "Bruce kicked off..."!!! Anyhoos, glad you're staying with us...you always uplift everyone here, including me!    So, allow yourself a half-hour in the evening to come in from the shop, cool off, (my shop's 99*F tonight), and post on the ol' OLF!

Larry
