I just spent the last hour or so reading the posts from the last ten days. It sounds like everyone who went had a good time. We left the Thursday before the HGF and have been going non-stop ever since. We decided to take the week after and see the sights of Northern California. We spent all day yesterday getting back to Texas and I'm ready to get back to the real world. A few words about Healdsburg..... This was my second festival, but my first as an exhibitor and I must say the experience was more than I expected. I got to meet a lot of OLF'ers, not everyone who was there, but most. John Mayes, John How, Brock Poling, Tim & Mary McKnight (Tim, you way overmarried), and Paul Davis. (forgive me if I missed anyone). I had the good fortune to wind up between John Greven and Sergei DeJonge in the Atrium. I say good fortune, because you had to go through me to get to either one of them. It was a little intimidating at first, but after awhile you're so busy, you forget about it. An interesting sidenote... Jim Olson came by my table (Remember who was on either side of me) and I got to meet him. What a humble man. I was very fortunate in that I sold one of my display guitars and picked up a commission for another and possibly one more. The best thing about the festival though, was getting to talk to so many people (players & builders) and getting their feedback on my instuments. This is really why I went. Hopefully, I can take this information and make my guitars better and get them into the hands of those who will enjoy them. I think I'm safe in saying that this is really why we all do this. |

Jimmy, You are a top class builder, you deserved to be in that spot. I admire your work, and thanks for sharing your experience at HGF. Tracy |

It was great meeting you Jimmy and your guitars are fantastic. One thing I remember was a lady coming by my table asking who it was that had the guitars with the bent braces. I said that would probably be Jimmy Caldwell, she said "Oh yeah". ![]() |
