Ok everyone. I've finally finished it. A new Ebony tailpiece and a 0.70 low
A string later and it plays like a champ. I apologize for the really bad
photo. I promise some closeups when I get time this weekend. This was a
quick shot with a cell phone cam. It sounds surprizingly loud despite
there are no f-holes on the top plate. The cedar top gives the archtop the
warm sound I was hoping for. I just have to get used to the wide
fretboard (2 1/8" at the nut) and that 7th string now.

Some quick specs:
25" Scale.
Cedar top plate.
Bubinga neck, sides & back plate.
Ebony fretboard & fittings.
Rubbed Shellac finish (not french polish).
Strings from 0.14 through 0.70.

Have you considered porting the sides? You might be surprised at the volume improvement.

Thanks for the kind words. There are 2 sound ports on the sides. 1 on the
top, upper bout. The other on the bottom, lower bout. Are you suggesting I
add more sound ports? The existing ports do add to the volume. I've
seen pix of Alan Carruth's ol' corker port test guitar. I wasn't quite ready to
go to that extreme.

Hehe, don't blame yeh.

No, I didn't know that you had ported it already. No mention of them in the description and no image of them. What size ports did you decide to go with? Are they both the same size?

Sorry 'bout that. It must have been that other forum where I had the ports in
the description. The ports are 1 1/4" in diameter. It really helps with the
volume.

Lance, I'll get some detailed pix a little later this morning. I'll also try to get a
decent mp3 created. I have "limited abilities" with this new 7 string. Having
only been 3 days since it was strung up, I haven;t had a whole lot of time to
explore it. So bear that in mind once the mp3 is posted (can I do that
directly).
