Below are some picture of my 1st dreadnought. Not my first guitar, just my first dreadnought.
The top is carp spruce and the back stripped sapele. The bindings are cocobolo rosewood. All the wood for this one came from Bob. This was also my first time to do side purflings. The soundhole rosette is red heart abalone. Sorry the pictures are so rough.





These two pics are of my sitka/rosewood SJ. It has been finshed and sanded to 2,000-grit. I have not been able to buff it out yet because I've been touching it up where I had sanded through the finish in a spot.

Truly wonderful work Colby, very clean, unfussy and classy. Your wood combinations are perfect. In a few years time when your work goes for $20k were all gonna be able to say, that we knew Colby when he started! You have a natural talent that is very precious.

Steve, I don't know of much more to say about the second guitar except that I've learned that I hate rubbing through the finish when your so close to getting done.

Well, ok, let me see if I can prime the pump:
The first pic (of the 2nd guitar) looks quite red. At least on my computer. Even the binding looks reddish. But then the 2nd pic of 2nd guitar looks more like Koa bindings. Right? And the sides look a bit like some reddish Indian rosewood. Is that right?
Those kinds of things.
If you have described this in another post, forgive me. But I really like the looks of that guitar, finish problem or not!

Steve, the first pic of that second guitar is not really true to the color. I see what you are saying about the first one having a red tint. The second shot is more true to the colors. The rosewood may have a hint of red when held in the light but not as much as it looks in that first picture. The bindings are curly koa.

Don, you must be joking. I can't hold a candle to what Lance is putting out there.
