Well I got the box closed up on the Black Walnut I got from Bob C. The top is Engelman Spruce with a curly Redwood sound hole inlay, and the heel cap and back strip are the same Redwood. Haven't sanded it yet, though I did wipe it down with mineral spirits.
Hope you enjoy!

Thanks Shane. Still a few goofs to hide, but I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Good looking. I always did like the walnut redwood combination.

Looks nice, Doug. What are you going to bind it with?

Bruce,
I'm still undecided on that. Any helpful hints?
Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

Doug, looks great!
As for bindings, I see a nice Bloodwood binding with a black side purfling.

Good work!

Yea, avoid plastic

I think that flamed maple would look nice.

Bloodwood! I have a nice supply that I could cut into binding. Hmmm!

Maple sounds good also. decisions, decisions

You could use more of that flamed redwood--just saturate it with CA to stiffen it.

Might work--and sure would match the inlays!

Steve
Do you mean saturate it before I bend it?

Post subject:

I vote for Redwood bindings too. I believe Steve was referring to saturating the bindings with CA after they are attached. This will add some structural integrety to the redwood as it is pretty soft and will ding easily.
