This one makes me smile every time I look at it, especially because it is for one of my favourite customers. Thought I'd share a few pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thye difference in Colour between the Back and Sides is because the back has a wash coat on it. |

Hi Walter Yes it is English Walnut (did you get yourself sorted out with some bindings ?), stuff with this sort of figure is hard to come buy as the gun makers pay silly money for it, this and a matching set came from a board that was too thin for gun stocks. Hi Bob It is an OOO 24.9" Scale, it is going to be bound in just plain holly, The customer and I are going for a very plain look as the figure can do the talking. It will have an English Cherry neck, The top is Redwood, The Rossette, Fingerboard, Bridge and Headstock veneer are and will be Brazilian Rosewood, I will post some images once it is finished. This is going to be one of those guitars that I won't want to go. ![]() |

Russell, I can see why you're smiling! I have a similar reaction. I bet your customer is going to flip (as we say over here). Were the sides fun to bend? Looks like they might have been a challenge. Really pretty box so far. Let us see the finished product, Steve |

Russel, great looking box, I like the rosette, very tasteful not overblown. Remember English walnut should have a nice old looking hand rubbed patina, not too shiny. There's a couple of sets of that waiting for me when I get back ![]() Colin |

Hi Steve On the Bending what I have found with walnut is it bends like a dream, but on the very figured stuff the art is to keep it as dry as possible or it starts to ripple, these one I litterally gave a single skirt along their length with a very fine mist. I also took the water off very cool at about 250 degrees and kept the heat on for longer than normal. Colin I'm hearing you on the finish, I will let you know on the redwood, I have done a lot with European and they sit really nice, as the English Walnut is pretty "Transparent" and in my opinion with European that is good. |

Thanks Russell, knowing how good your guitars sound I await the finished guitar with anticipation. If you can send me an MP3 of it when done I'd be grateful and it would give me somethng to shoot at. As your a lefty, and I assume the guitar is right handed, just a chord will do, Em9 is my favourite! (C shape on third fret leaving 1st,3rd and 6th open) I try and sneak it in on evreything I play ![]() Colin One small criticism if I may, I don't think the carpet goes very well with the walnut, a nice oatmeal would look better ![]() |

Thanks Colin I can probably get someone to play it for me, so will do. My wife likes me to tell people that I buy my workshop carpet as offcuts and what you see in the workshop doesn't appear in the house, the pink one is pretty tame you should see the other one I've got, all big swirls etc. ![]() |
