I spent part of the summer restoring the tank on an '81 CM400 C that my dad left to me. Unfortunately I was unable to afford legal statis (both me and the bike), but I did put a few miles on it via dirt roads! BTW, nice ax arsenal! ![]() |

I love that red one, man thats nice. Also makes me miss my old bike. I had a 1970 Honda 750. Ran over a key one day doing 70 and blew a rear tire. Never laid it down, but thankfully there was no traffic cause I went all over the road. I sold it right after that and haven't owned one since. I do have a Schwinn bicycle though. Ron |

Nice guitars. I really like those old '70s hondas, but my better half (smarter half?) has ruled it out. I guess she got tired of calls from the hospital telling her I'd met another taxi driver. Be very careful on that bike, broken pelvis's and crushed unmentionables, hurt like heck. The only good thing to come from my last brush with death was that some of the compensation money paid for my 18" jet bandsaw. |

John, or anyone else with what I'm looking for.. I'd love to get some accurate Tele/Strat plans to make templates from.. Is anyone able to help me get some decent tracings or even some plans? I'm more than willing to pay for them. Oh ya, John the guitars look amazing and I love the bike. I have an early 80s XR250 that looks a lot like it but in red. Sold my 95XR250 when I quit racing/trailriding to pay tuition but kept the old one ;) Needs some TLC to get back lookin like yours though ![]() |

The MIMF has strat and tele plans, and guitarbuildingtemplates.com (or something like that) sells quite a few. |

Beautiful! I just got a couple of sets of sensational ziricote from Larry Davis, I'm making mental note of the ziricote / maple combo, I think yours looks great! |

I just took a chance on some plans on eBay by a guy named Benjamin Stouffs; there were 5 plans in the pkg: Strat, Tele, Jazz Bass, SG & LP - each comes in PDF and DWF format. Not saying I'm any judge of these things, but it seems like these are more detailed & precise than some I've seen. Have I wasted my $6.00? ![]() Really gorgeous guitars, John - and that uke's amazing! |

apologies for the huge pic - obviously, I need practice at sizing images! (and at not trampling on John's beauty thread!) |

Great guitars John. Although that second one seems to be missing a few parts. ![]() Love the bike too, I have a 1980 CB750C myself. Too bad it's starting to get too cold to ride. ![]() |
nice geeters... That reminds me (sniff sniff) of me ol' CB350 way back in the Good Ol' Days.... man I miss that ol' bike. ![]() HA...that's exactly what I was thinking. Mine was a CM400 back in 1984. Went everywhere on it. Man, those are some sweeeeet guitars. I don't even play electric, and it makes me want one. Beautiful John, just gorgeous. |

thanks for the nice words everyone. I got the strat and Tele templates off Ebay, although for this one I just used the outline as it is mostly hollow and I had to do some interesting routing and then press the maple top on the body. The necks, as per my usual routine, I just flew by the seat of my pants. I make that crap up as I go and hope it turns out ok. Actually I've been working on this one too (might as well show off a little of everything) I really think making all sorts of different instruments is what keeps me sane. What the heck are you guys laughing at? Ok so It is a stretch to call anything about me sane, but no need to laugh.... ![]() ![]() I'm also working on a REALLY flashy soprano uke, but It is going to be really special..I'll have to gloat when I finish it... Oh and I'm also building an electric guitar amp.. in fact I've got it all wired I'm just needing to get the cab done and speakers installed and we will see if it blows up when I plug it in.... |

Really good stuff john! I'd like to know more about the "stage' guitar, and what you are going to put on the top, and in it for electronics. |
Reqally good stuff john! I'd like to know more about the "stage' guitar, and what you are going to put on the top, and in it for electronics.
Sure. This one is a Mahogany body with a Quilted Maple top. 5 Piece neck. I plan on stringing it with extra lights (acoustic) as this one is not getting a electric pickup, just a acoustic one (D-Tar Timberline). I have one other I'm experimenting with and I plan on putting a P-90 in it and some cool switching to where you can either do acoustic or electric via a switch or even both at once. So the top on this one just gets a bridge, and that's it. |

Nice junk, John. I really like the Zircote. Nice bike too. I've been working on (and riding) a '79 Kawasaki KZ750 twin. I wonder how many of us ride? |

Well, I ride--but like Ron, it's a Schwinn. Peloton, not Paramount. ![]() John--as usual, really pretty guitars. How did you get that deep red color--stain or spray? Steve |
