Hi All!!

Let me start off by saying this forum is just full of great information! And the community seams to be AAAA (master grade if you will!).

I'm getting ready to finish my first guitar it's a StewMac rosewood w/ bolt on neck. It has plastic bindings and i'm tring to figure out what the best way to attack final sanding to prevent the binding from picking up any of the rosewood. Any sugestions?

Thanks,
   Joe.

I have never had a problem with plastic binding. I just finish sand it as per normal. If it appears stained you can usually just wipe it down with Naptha and it will clean right up.

Another trick I have used to clean up light colored woods (and I suspect this would work on plastic too, but have never tried it) is to agressively use a gum art eraser (the tan kind that crumble away quickly). That does a pretty nice job at cleaning off "gunk" without hurting the wood.

Good luck.

Brock,
Thank you much! Nothing like hearing that you're worried about nothing ;). I can't wait to finally string it up!

Joe,

If you're not happy after sanding, scrape the binding with a scraper or a razor blade.
