The devil is definitely in the details. This guitar has snakewood bindings, top and side purfling, mitered at the butt, custom maple top purflings. Right now some scraping is all that is left and the box is done.
Ill get to that tomorrow

Lance,
This is the fun part. Bringing that beauty out to be seen.
You can see it in there and it is going to be nice.
Great combo Lance!
Show us that mitered butt when its shining.

Boy is that going to be nice!! Can't wait to see it finished. I also wondered how hard it is to bend and glue snakewood.
Can you compare it to bending and glueing ebony as that's all I've done so far.

Nice looking lance! I actually like to miter the engraft purflings. It's not
hard to do and it really adds some class!John Mayes38685.9680439815

Boy that looks good. Excellent wood combinations and from the shavings it looks like you have a seriously sharp scraper.
Lance it looks great!

Two questions: 1) Is this one with the Mexican crack wood? 2) Did you fidn the snake wood hard to bend, I did and it also splinters right into your finger if you rub it the wrong way......

Hesh
Hesh, this one is made from Black Acacia that I got from Don Williams,
Here is the Mexican Crack wood

The snakewood bent very easily, it is however a dreadnough shape, suffice to say, not much of a bend.
It'll give you a sliver if you look at it wrong

Ron
In my experience, Ebony is the single hardest binding to bend, but its SO So easy to work with because of the ability to hide cracks and gaps. The snakewood bent very easy using my Blues Creek bender.

Thanks guys - Ill get some close-ups of the flamed maple purflings, BobC made them for me and he did (as usual) a fantastic job. They are b/w/b/flamed maple/b/w/b and look great. Thanks again Bob!

That combo of purflings is what call Mapalone. Same config is used with
abalone but substitute flamey maple for the bling and you got Maplalone!

Hey Bob, I'm not much into the abalone bling look for perfling. It just seems to distract to much from the rest of the guitar. Any chance you will offer Mapalone in the future?

really! I've been using (as I'm sure lots of other shave been too) using
mapalone for some time now... here is a pic of one..you just gotta cut
the maple so that the flame shows up on the edge not the face.

Here is the inspiration for the binding scheme I used.
Its been a while, but I (think) this is a Walker.
