Walter - I’m positive that Brock meant no harm, but rather a kind hearted joke.

I understand how frustrating computers can be, but trust me, Brock didn’t mean anything by that, just goofing around.

Walter I read Brocks remarks. I took it that he was just adding brevaty (humor) to thread. Odds are his insight was already covered by the others that posted befre him.

They are likly to be right either hardware short or driver got corrupted. Try to update the driver first

on a separate note, joking around and running off on a tangent, unrelated to a particular topic, or guitar in general, in my opinion is part of the charm of the OLF, being able to shoot the breeze with someone as if we were standing face to face, and not being hand cuffed into staying ON TOPIC.

Wow... seriously I just meant that as a light hearted joke. I'm sorry that it came across that way.

Trust me I understand how frustrating and nerve wracking computer problems can be. I was just offering you a little levity that would perhaps may you smile in the face of a bad situation. I just recently had a nightmare scenario of my own.

And regarding my ability to help. I must confess that I am not the guy. Once upon a time I was pretty good with the specifics of technology but a number of years as the leader and not the "doer" has dulled my skills. But thankfully I have a capable staff (but they are all server people and coders).

It was not intended as a cheap shot. I think it is one of those situations where the intention of my meaning got lost in the medium.

I don't believe my presence is really needed on this Forum.
Maybe it's time to say goodbye, God Bless and take care!!

On the contrary, everyones presence is needed. Without all of us a
forum wouldn't be. I know Brock did not mean any ill will by the
comment. It was just a joke, and I thought it was kinda funny. Not slap
your knee funny mind you, but good enough for a little chuckle. I don't
see how you could of taken it as a cheap shot, but I'm positive Brock did
not mean anything other than a goofy lighthearted interjection.

I'm not telling you to stay or go, you can do as you wish, but if you decide
to go at least know that you will be missed.John Mayes38686.6908333333

Walter, I really am at a loss. It really was just a little joke to make you smile... nothing else.

Again, I am sorry that you perceived it as something other than that.

I'll say it...Walter, please stay! Written words are often mistaken in meaning because there's no expression to see or inflection of voice to hear as when we speak face to face...It's possible that in your frustration over the computer problem (right up there with road rage in my case!!) you read something in between Brock's lines...again, please don't go!

Walter,

Your 477 posts to date have helped a lot of us think about what we do and how we do it. Your contribution has been extremely helpful and I hope that you have gained something also. A community does really on each other, without the individuals we would not be a whole. Brock certainly meant no disrespect and has apologized. The only time I ever get headaches is from trying to make these computers work so I can feel your frustration and understand when a persons humour level may be a bit low, but please hang in there, let the water flow under the bridge a bit, get the computer fixed and we hope to see you posting soon.

Shane

Walter,
You are needed on this forum, as is everyone else. Don't let this drive you away. Apologies have been offered and forgiveness is needed, as you know, if you are asking God to bless people. Forgiveness is healthy, both spiritually and physically.

Obese woman goes to a doctor. Doctor says, "I have to tell you that you're overweight." Woman says, "I want a second opinion!" Doctor says, "OK, you're ugly too!" -Henny Youngman, I think

Now THAT's a cheap shot!

The humorous tidbit that Brock tossed out for your amusement was certainly not a cheap shot, or intended to hurt your feelings. Sleep on it, and come back tomorrow and re-read Brock's quip. I think you'll see it was not a mean-spirited remark, even if you were too angry at your computer at that moment to laugh about it.

I am going to get myself in trouble here but what I have to say is the truth.

Walter,
NO ONE!!! said or wrote anything that was ment as snip, put-down or anything like that. several have stood up and posted to be sure you understood this.

Please understand that we all consider you as an intrical part of our community here.

But if you feel what Brock, myself or anyone else has posted on this matter or past matters were snipes at you, then you need to know that "you" are the one that is interjecting that inferance, because frankly Walter, the snipes are not there.

Cheer up Walter
the day will get better

Walter, like the others have said, I really hope your rage with your computer clouded your vision a bit. Typing humor can be tricky as has been said earlier. One can't see the little smirk that let's everyone know it's a joke.
In fact, I almost posted to your computer question. My response would have been. "that's the sign that it's about to crap out and you need to get another". From experience I know that that's what is about to happen when a monitor starts to flicker. I hope that response wouldn't have been taken as a cheap shot.
Relax, take a deep breath and know that were all friends here. (well, except for that John Mayes guy, he's a jerk)
See, you couldn't see my smirk, that was a joke. Pwoolson38686.7474189815

Before Brock typed his coment I had actually typed my Sugestion, "Call in an Exorcist!" and then decided not to post it as I thought of How frustrating computer problems can be. Speaking as someone who has been slapped down both here and on my other favorite forum I know how upsetting it can be. I also no that it is never intended and just need to step back and take a deep breath.

Walter,
As a regularly misquoted or misunderstood poster to many forums, I know how easily words in this shallow dimensioned media can be misinterpreted by readers. I'm sure Brock's intentions were of the highest caliber just as he said. I recently had to reformat the three 120 Gig hard drives in one of my computers here. I'm primarily a Mac guy using a dual processor G5 that is blazing fast and has proven itself to be impervious to many of the junk and viruses that regularly hound and shut down my Windows machines.

I've found the best way to handle computer issues and alot of the really vague solution offerings being made by even the manufacturers of the hard and software is to step back, relax and consider the complete defective nature of it all as it costs a few pennies to make and then costs us hundreds of dollars to use and be tormented by.

Before computers, there were phones and before that, was the postal system...and before that...we all just had to talk to the people next to us. Can you imagine? I love the technology but look forward to times when the power goes out and we fire up the big generator and just play board games with the kids. No TV or video games or computers...just family and friends.

I hope you've had some success in getting the PC problems straightened out and that you've decided to keep bouncing around here at the OLF where you belong.

Regards,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega GuitarsKevin Gallagher38687.5167013889

Whoa.. I feel like I should say sorry too?

I know I didn't mean anything by it.. Didn't mean any offense.. I re-read the posts and I don't see any personal jab there. And as mentioned earlier, the previous couple posts did cover the issue pretty well, it wasn't like the problem hadn't been addressed.

Hope you reconsider.
