woops, I meant to say edge to edge, not flip over. BTW , this is one gorgeous looking set. It's piqued my curiosity. How many sets do you have? |

I pretty much have an endless supply of the wood. Well not endless, but enough to last for several years. All are highly figured, most are spalted, (very stable spalt) but none look exactly the same. Maybe it's the wine my wife put in the pot roast, but I'm not sure I know what you mean when you say edge to edge. Sorry |

He means switch the bookmatched edge.. So the clear wood is in the middle with the dark on the outside. Do you cut all your sides that much oversized? Someones gonna get all kinds of binding and headplates, etc out of the leftovers ![]() |

A few of these are oversized. I didn't bother to cut this one down because it's so beautiful everywhere. I decided I would leave that decision up to the winner. If you look closely at both shots, I didn't just flip them over, although it does look like it. I reversed the bookmatched backs. On the top shot, the clear wood is in the middle and touching, and on the bottom shot, the dark wood is in the middle and the clear wood does not touch. I still may be completly out in left field on this, but this is the only way I know to reverse a book match. |

Looks reversed bookmatched to me. You may want to try and just take the second match and rotate 180 deg. so that the base of the dark triangle formed is on the bottom. Just a thought. Beautiful set Doug. |
