I just deleted a post, that is something that I really really really REALLY hate to do, and I appolgize to anyone that may be offeneded by my slight censoring.

Again, sorry.

Gee, this place may start to feel like a real forum, after all <bg> First we have past advertisers that get warned for being commercial, now we have deleted posts...

I told ya this would have to happen some day. Welcome to the real world.

IT was a "real forum" the day it was launched. It may not be your version of a real form, but it works for me.

First we have past advertisers that get warned for being commercial,

HUH?

now we have deleted posts...
Second one in almost three years, and im NOT proud of that.

I told ya this would have to happen some day. Welcome to the real world.

Because I had to delete a post, does not qualify the OLF for a real world title.
Id rather it stay in fantasy land I'm happier here.

Brazil guy aluded to that in a post this past week.

I'm just funnin' with ya. The "real world" to me has always been one where someone has to rule the roost, or the roost will self destruct. Glad to see some rules being put to use. No shame in that; be proud of the great job you're doing!Mario38688.8596064815

Lance,
We are sure that you are not being arbitrary when you agonize over deleting a single post. You are more than fair in my mind. Letting things get out of hand is a danger to our group and each of us should be mindful of the position we put you in when we stray or allow ourselves to be baited. Someone will always make a comment that can be taken as offensive, I say the membership should let it slide and let you decide if it should be removed or not. That way it won't get out of control and you may not have to act and can just let the thread die naturally. If we respond it just keeps going and you end up with the painful job of deciding, and clearly that is not something you enjoy. I pledge to try hard to remember the few simple rules you have set forth and not create any problems for the group. Of course I'm not perfect but I'll try. Sorry for your dilema.

Dang! And I was just going to post the secrets of the universe being displayed on 22X30 cards by a group of semi-nude Swedish cyclers! Oh well, maybe on that other forum!

Delete away Lance and don't apologise. I get Deleted on other forums quite regularly, can't believe I haven't offended anyone here yet. I took Mario's Coment as totally in fun, our northern humour maybe, Probably a sensitive issue for you though as you obviously really don't want to be doing it.

Lance,
No need to apologize. Having met you personally I totally respect your decisions.

Lance

You have set rules and you are willing to enforce them. I think that is great! What the others have said is right, no rules and this form would not last long. I like hanging around here because I know that things are not going to get out of hand. And we have all the freedom we need to discuss building guitars.

I think you are obviously doing something right as the membership numbers are growing on a daily basis. Keep up the good work.

You do what you have to do and I trust your judgement. Deleting a post is a lot better than a public flogging!

I appreciate your discretion Lance. My kids often look over my shoulder when I here and I really appreciate not having to worry about what they might read. Thanks for keeping watch.

Censorship is a dirty job, but sometimes it has to be done to maintain community standards. What's remarkable here is how few times you've had to do it.

I think that's a real tribute to the quality of the individuals who make up this community.

Art is fun, self-restraint is difficult.

Man I wish the person who was conducting the meeting I was in on Friday would have enlisted a little censorship! Two hours behind schedule, 'cause everyone was so at odds over font sizes and margin widths... Arrrgghhh!

Seriously Lance, from what I've seen so far in this forum - it is a wonderful, free flowing, exchange of ideas and information. If you deleted a post, I'm sure it needed it.
