Ok, this might be the pre coffee break meanderings of a Monday morning but... I've often wondered, and a post by Paul B in the thread about the fender acoustic made me wonder more... Has anyone evern thought of puttiong together a luthiers artisan collective? I know that glassblowers and ever potters do this often. Because of the cost of quality tools, they (glassblowers that is) would have a shop that they pay a sort of membership fee to work in. They all work in the same area on thier own projects, and yet help each other out. Everyone benefits from the sharing of knowledge. Most of these places even have a factory store.

I would be interested in what others think about this. And for the record, I am not talking about a hippie commune type of thing. Just a pooling of resources.
