A young guitarist friend asked me about how the topography is made. I'd guess CNC, or some type of plastic molding overlay. He'd like to retrofit a guitar (I think that's highly impractical)

I think it is CNC. I was at the Custom shop last year for the Fantasy Camp (been going for about three years - just great - bummer no camp this year though)and I beleive I saw those being routed. Not too popular I think. CNC can do anything it seems. Guitarist Magazine had an article Taylor Guitars snd spoke of the CNC. I visted the Taylor factory last year - AMAZING technology! |
