Have seen 3/32, 1/8 and some others discussed here.Would you please discuss different widths and the pros and cons for each? Thanks Much, |

Pros being that you can intonate each note more accurately. Cons being that a fat saddle looks kind of funny. That's all I can think of. |

Another advantage of fat saddels (aslong as enough material is left in front of the slot on the bridge) is the extra bearing surface helps carry the forward pull load cause by the strings by distributing the load over a larger footprint. |

The only downside to using a wide saddle (IMHO) is that it complicates the installation of an undersaddle pick up. I like having the extra wiggle room the wider saddle gives when setting the intonation. |

M Greenfield uses a very wide black horn saddle as well, at least I think its black horn, but definitely wide, like about a 1/4 inch. |
