Well, my second guitar is done and was given as a present to my dad for christmas. I was really sweating it as I just buffed it out on Friday and strung it up for the first time on Saturday. Talk about close. Here it is. It is a kit from Martin that I modified slightly. I don't have the workshop or tools yet to buy planks and turn them into guitars, but I'm getting there.

The back and sides are macassar ebony.

Here's my father inspecting the label.

And the happy new owner.

Nice effort! Did your dad have any idea that he was getting it? He sure looks happy.

GREAT Job Joe! Both in execution and thought. That will be one of the best presents he has ever recieved because he will know that the hours you put into that guitar were hours thinking about the joy he will have in receiving it.

Fantastic!

Shane

Good job! Did you put it in the Fender box?

Thanks all for the compliments.

It was a total surprize for my dad. The whole family was in on it. The Fender box I got from a local music store. It was a perfect fit for the guitar in its case. I think it kind of made the surprize better....or then again maybe not

Who would have thought that Macassar Ebony was a starter kit wood ...WOW...very ambious but well done! Feels good, doesnt it.

Nothing beats the satisifaction of having built something and then giving it away...a double gift!

Congratulations and a very cool thing to give a Dad...the onlt thing that would have been better than the Fender box would have been an Ovation box

Joe,
The Fender box was a nice touch. I'll bet you had him there for a while.
