I thought you all would like to see how my first myrtlewood bend came out. It a small jumbo bend, spalt, figure and all! Sorry in advance about some of the focus. I think I need a new camera.
I had one extra piece from the sides I cut and I wanted to see how it bent. I cant believe how easily it went. This is straight out of the bender. I wiped it with mineral spirits, but it's not been in a mold, and is holding its shape like it grew this way. Now I have to find a piece like it to finish the guitar. Hope you enjoy.

Jeff,
I bought the bender from John Hall at Blues Creek. I also got the cut-away ram that is extra. Haven't used it yet.

Yes, you mean John Hall's benders
Myrtlewood does indeed bend like butter.
Nice looking wood Doug.

Lookin' good!

Oh, and Doug? Bet your camera's fine. That looks like blur from trying to take a picture without flash in too low light (ergo shutter speed too low), resulting in veeeery slight motion blur.

Doug try again with a tripod, or if your camera allows, set it toward a more + exposure.

Better still take it outside, you'll get great lighting.

Thanks for the tip Mattia & Terry, I will try them all. Except for taking it outside. It's raining hard here.

Dave, you're very welcome. You are going to love working with this wood, and I can't wait to see a finish on this stuff.
