Happy Holidays to all! I just posted on my web site a comprehensive article
on how to create the
double tenon neck joint. This joint bolts both the neck and fingerboard to
the body. Obviously there is no glue involved. I included the length and size
of bolts and other details that would
allow anyone to try the joint on their next instrument. Go here.

Sylvan,

Thanks for sharing this. It is printing as we speak! I have looked at this joint with interest. My concern for it's use has been the weighht it would add to the guitar. Did you notice much difference in weight or do you have anything impericle on that?

Thanks again

Shane

Shane -
The difference in weight is absolutely minimal. Most of the piece of wood
that replaces the popcycle stick is routed away. And I use spruce for that
piece which is very light anyway. The bolt and nuts add less than 10 grams.
And, if you think about it, that 10 grams of weight is right at the center of
the guitar where it won't be felt at all.

Thanks a million Sylvan. Your site has always been a great source of jigs and building tips. We novices really do appreciate it.

Merry Christmas Sylvan and THANKS for the nice gift. I always thought that a glued on fretboard would be better but I just might try this.
