Hi all, I just got word about pricing and delivery. If I buy 50 of these blades then they would be available for $39 USD. If I buy less than 50 then they would be about $52 USD. Again these are 6" Dia, 5/8 arbor, .025 kerf and 150 teeth. These blades need stiffners and I can get these also but I am a bit confused on the price they gave me so I will get back to you on that next week. So I would need to know who would be interested in these blades, delivery would be 6 to 8 weeks to me and I would get them out as soon I got them. Now I would need to have most of them claimed before I make the order and then I would need payment on these before hand. I will figure out a flat shipping rate, these are small and that shouldn't really be too much. So, I need a list to see who is interested and then we could get going on this. These would be very fine blades designed especially for our use! Don't send any money until we determine if we have enough interest for the price break. Again I don't mind having a few around but I don't need 40 or so yet! Thanks and I will start counting. Shane wants at least one! Shane |

Please hold off on any payments until we find out if we get enough people in on this to get the quantity discount! If we get enough then you will be able to paypal me or we can work out some other arrangements, but need to get enough people involved. I will give my paypal account when we are ready to move forward. I got stiffner prices but I think that they are priced per piece and not per pair. The prices would be $18 each ($36 for a pair) of 3.5" stiffners and $26 each ($52 for a pair) for the 5" stiffners. I bought some 3.5" blade stabilizers from House of Tools for way cheaper than this but they may not work so well. They are chromed and I got to thinking that the chroming process probably does not allow for an even layer being applied and may result in induced runout in the blade as these blades are very thin. The cheap stabilizer is also quite thick and conical in shape. The ones offered are 1/8 flat ground high strength steel specially designed for keeping these blades running true and stable. The price is a bit high but I guess if you want the right stuff that will probably last us all a lifetime then price is well worth it. Anyway, I will confirm the stiffner prices next Tuesday. Hey Shane; Busy Bee sells their 4" flat gound stabilizers for about $7.00 a pair. I bought a few sets on sale a couple of months ago for $4.95 a pair. Might be worth finding out if they sell a 5" set. I'm not sure 4" will give enough support to a thin 6" blade. I can mail my extra set to you if you'd like to look them over. Dan'l |

Thanks Dan, Your post caused me to go down stairs and have a closer look at my 3.5" stabilizers and they are indeed flat ground! I spoke about chroming from looking at the picture on the website and it is just a poor picture. THey use the same picture for the stabilizers you bought at Busy Bee as they do for all of the sets on the House of Tools website. So the only downside of these import stabilizers is that they are much thicker than the ones from the blade manufacturer. I will research that a bit next week. Otherwise House of Tools has a set of 5 inch Stabilizers for $24.12 USD. You can see the horrible picture here Shane |

GREAT Bob!! That is an even better price for the same item. But if I order it from Lee Valley I will just spend more money on a bunch of other things, since I am ordering anyway  !

Has anyone used these 150 tooth stitting blades for fret slotting? Looking at the pics, the teeth look very short. The Stew-Mac blade has teeth which are slightly taller than the depth of cut, so they clear sawdust relatively well. If the slitting blades have a set to the teeth they should work fine, but before investing the $ (and modifying my sled) I'd like to be confident the blade will do the job. I sent a second note to Stew-Mac, giving them the blade & kerf measurements several of you folks posted for me. I asked them if this was a common complaint & if a replacement blade would correct the problem. So far, I haven't heard back... I'm hoping that after the holiday chaos is past, I will get a worthwhile answer to pass along. 'Till then, I'll hold off on ordering a slitting blade. I'm hoping that Stew-Mac can sort this out. Their blade is sturdy & cuts a very smooth & consistent slot. If they can get the narrow kerf issue worked out it will be a fine tool. |

Yesterday I used my 5 inch blade with 3.5 inch stabilizers (The Lee Valley etc kind) and cut a bunch of kerfs in quartersawn maple with very good success. I compared the cut with the hand fret saw I bought from LMI and the results are the same. The manufacturer is well aware of our tolerences and I will hold them to those with the blades. I am also going to build a sled and indexing templates, probably based on Benedetto, and I will supply some destructions (  ) on how to build one for your saw with each blade that goes out if there is a desire for that.
