I leave the adjusting nut inside the heel block with a through slot for access it. I then drill a 5/16 hole through the transverse brace to allow access with the allen wrench. It's buried in there, but you can get to it.

Mine is just proud of the heel block and ends about 3/4" south of the nut.

   I have mine just about 1/2 short of the bar. One thing also is that if the nut doesn't line up , bend it to get access on it before you glue the neck
