Probably pretty simple but planning on painting a guitar and wondering how the rosette gets done on a painted soundboard?? Paint it and then install the rosette? Or do you simply tape off the rosette during the painting process? (Seems like build up of paint would show) |

Hi Rich This is a tricky operation for the first timer. You will install the rosette , seal , then mask off the rosette . once the paint is cured you pull the masking off and finish with a clear coat over the paint to fill the void of the masking. I hit the first coat and then drop fill the rosette , hit another coat or 2 then level sand. That way I have a cusion and don't sand into the paint. If you try and install the rosette after paint you will allmost be garanteed chip out. john hall |

Geeeez, when you get such a simple answer to something that seemed so complex it is almost an embarrasement. Especially when my first 15 years of work life was as a body man and painter!!!! Thanks John |
