Okay all you engineer types out there...I'm appealing to your wisdom...I want just a touch more neck relief in an OM I built a while back...the one where the truss rod nut was broken off ...that ordeal's over, and I pulled all the frets, leveled the f/b and refretted...all nice and smooth, but the new truss rod configuration is somewhat limited in that it's a one-way rod now...I'd like to see just a touch more relief, so I can keep the action where it is....all that to ask, could I get away with med or lt top/heavy bottom strings on an OM? The bracing's all "standard"...TIA.

Only you would know how you braced it but there should be no reason you couldn't use mediums on an OM.

Hesh, those are the VERY strings I bought to put on there depending on the advice I got here...

John, yep it's run-of-the-mill bracing for an OM right to the Martin plan...LMI white tho.. (I was never nervous about that til I read all the stuff on the forum!)...what the hay, I'll do it and keep a close eye on it for a week...

Thanks guys!

I've use that glue on the last 15 or so builds without so much as a hint of trouble.

I think you should be fine.

GHS makes a True medium gauge which is a bit heavier than lights. Or the D'add bluegrass set that was already mentioned. I would try those first and see if that helps.

Larry,

I wonder if, after some period of time under the extra pull of the mediums, the neck would take enough of a set that you could go back to your usual strings. Possibility?
