Hi All! i have posted a couple of times before but ill introduce myself appropriatly any way... my name's Udi, i'm 25(almost) y/o and i live in Israel. i m an electrical engineering student and a luthier on weekends and spring breaks. i got my "luthierie" education in argentina while studying with luthier Adrian Gunella ( http://www.gunellagtrtech.8m.com/ ). and as tradition does, i m attaching a few pics of what i do when i aint studying ;) now...untill not too long ago i was bendng wood using a bronze pipe heated by an alcohol lamp, i then purchased a silicone blanket from John Hall and loved it! andn ow i want to use it some more. sadly i cant locate a martin guitar anywhere around here nor can i locate a decent scroll saw that i could use...dont have a table router either...i usually do things by hand...any way due to all i mentioned above i cant seem to set up really nice decent molds and forms to use with the blanket. John Hall has some great stuff but shipping of a full sized mold(or 4 of them will cost me my next years uni tuition so i m looking for a cheaper alternative. if anybody has half body molds/forms that he could make copies on a single 1/2" or so piece of MDF or plywood, please let me know coz i got some money to spend ;) |

Udi, you let me know what you want and I'll try to help you out. Nice Ziricote backed guitar body, is that the Rare Mexican Bocote I see to the right? I have a free coupon to send something to someone, does DHL come to Israel? It's for 25 bucks and it's yours. |
Udi Luigi's bearclaw? Who is Luigi? ![]() ![]() ![]()
Luigi is a mysterious and wonderful elf that lives in a magic forest high in the Italian Alps! If you are very lucky, you will be touched by his magic someday! ![]() Hi Udi! What about a CAD drawing sent to you? Could you get someone with a plotter to plot it full scale, and then glue it to some plywood, and then get someone else with a bandsaw to cut it out? Even paying for the cutting, it might be cheaper than sending a form. Just a thought. Let me know if I can help! Dennis |

I'll talk to Adrian about this ![]() The lutherie session has been deferred to this summer (one july week probably), we're putting together a few bigs; are you in? Gg |

Udi I think we can get you some patterns. I know you are looking at ordering a few things. Let me know what you are looking for. I think the only pattern I don't have is the martin #7. john hall |

Dennis, you are wrong about luigi being an elf living in the alps!!!! he is actually a giant living just beside the alps BUT he often goes up and tears spruce trees straight outta ground. a local legend tells that he has X-ray vision and thus can look inside the tree and see if the bearclaw is nice enough to justify the effort of tearing it down. now...i have been looking into cad drawing and all of that...found somebody whi is willing to do the CADs and cut it all out on a CNC...just trying to find the better (i.e that will enable me to keep paying my university tuition for the next 3 years) option. Bruce Dickey's a great guy and offered help, and John Hall...well i m sure he could help a great deal And Luigi, if i m to do a martin clone than itll probably be something fancy like the millionth guitar ;) gotta find a use to all the abalone/MOP and dremel bits i have laying around! if only i had some free time laying around next to those 3/32" bits... John, ill PM you. thanks guys for all the help! Udi. |
