I am making myself a small parlor like guitar for travel. The body mold I have is an 0 martin 12 fret. The only plans I have are for a "small concert parlor " guitar by Scott Antes. The 0 martin is a bit bigger. (Wider and longer body) My plans call for only one tone bar and one finger brace on each side of the X braces. Since my guitar is a bit bigger would you change the bracing pattern? 2 tone bars??? more finger braces??? I have never made any guitar smaller than an OM so I have no clue. Suggestions....help???? I snagged a bracing scheme from the MIMF and took it to a copy shop and had it blown up full to size. I don't know how faithful it is to the original, but it makes a nice guitar. |

I'd stay with the Antes bracing, but check out Brock's suggestion to get alternative ideas. |

Andy, here is a Gibson L-00 bracing, about the size of what you are talking about. Take a look, 2 tone bars, 1 finger brace, 1/4 inch brace stock. ![]() |

On the basis that most guitars are way overbraced (my present hobby horse) I'd stick with the single tone bar, or put a single transverse bar ala larivee. Colin |

Hi Andy On my O Size I use a double Tone Bar and Double Finger Braces. I sort through for tops which are more flexible than I would usuallt use. My Bracing is like this |

If you want Martin Bracing I have the actuall tracings from the production floor. Antes layout is close. You do have to remember that bracing is scale length oriented. The 0 has 1 tone bar and 1 finger brace. The X braces also don't go as high up the body towards the neck. If you need to I am in the shop 570-682-8046 and I can help you out over the phone john |
