Another question about my new bridge design. For a couple reasons I'd like to do a "through saddle". I am not experienced in pickup installation, but it seems to me that if you put something under the saddle with a through-saddle design, you'd run into some problems, the seemingly obvious one being that you'd then have visible gaps under each end of the saddle. I don't plan on installing undersaddle pickups in my guitars myself (though I might find myself doing that at some point), but I'd like the guitars to allow that possibility for people who want it. Do those of you who can do pickup installations in your sleep, whose skills I so admire, have tricks for installing under-saddle pickups in bridges with through-saddles, such that you don't end up with visible gaps or other problems I may not even be able to imagine? Any helpful thoughts on the subject would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

I guess you could make your through saddle like Mario Proulx (check his web site) and use a undersaddle pickup just like you would with a "normal" drop in saddle. |

Thanks for your reply, Arnt. I hadn't looked at Mario's design. That's an option I'll seriously consider. I'd still like to hear from anyone with input on the realities of installing an undersaddle pickup under a typical through saddle. Thanks! |

I do Mine as per the way Mario does now and use the LR bagsgs under the saddle. Works great. |
