Michael, I can profile the back rim. Not a big deal at all.
Am I then sending it on for the top to be attached?
Thanks for taking this by the reigns!

If you end up short on helpers, or if someone drops out I am willing to pitch in a hand and help. Just let me know.

In fact Brock from what info I have gathered we will need someone to bind and purf the box. I do not see in any post I have looked at where someone has taken that task.MichaelP38755.3937847222

Michael, I'll PM you on the binding and purfling, there was someone earlier, from my notes.

I have the bloodwood bindings that match the fingerboard that John Mayes is binding. As soon as it's settled on who is going to bind I'll send them along.

I mentioned to Michael yesterday, I am on board for this if you need me.

I can't seem to find a specs list for this and was curious. What is the body wood on this? Top? Is it a cutaway OSJ or non cutaway?

Brock it is a OLF SJ non cutaway. The top is still up in the air a bit as the original was used elswhere back and sides are quilted sapele. The binding is bloodwood with black/maple/black side purfling. Top purfling is to be black/maple/black/bloodwood/black/maple/black. This is what is on the specs I have

You could do a poll on the top Michael. The Addy with a burst, or anything else donated to the cause.

I have braces and hide glue a plenty for a new top and will supply the purf rings if we install abalone or a plain rosette.

The good thing about the Addy top its a few days to a week or so ahead of anything else. But it has to be bursted in my book. That was my plan if I used it personally.

How about I send the top to you Woolson, then you can post the box on to Brock in Ohio. Save the box a trip South and North? Bruce Dickey38756.4918402778

It was an experiment with the Adirondack bookmatch/ slip-match sets.   So it's extra long, you cut off the length and add it back slip-matching the wings.Bruce Dickey38756.6733449074

Okay, the Addy top is out. Michael, what do you think about redwood for a kid? He's mature, and can be impressed about the importance of extreme care. Let me dig around and see what I have. The burst is busted, back on the shelf it goes.

Someone send me some red abalone! I have fiber purfs bwb and celluloid purfs bwb several ways.

Unless you just insist on redwood, let me furnish a top of Sitka, or Englemann, I have cedar too. I'll go peek and see how much dust I can stir up in the shop. Thanks Michael, keep popping that whip!

In Bold type. MY RADIUS DISH IS 25 FEET, is that a good spec for everyone. Since I'm doing a new top, do you want the Dual Transverse brace I build or single and the rest blank or popsicle???? I need details.

I wll get with Paul as soon as I can to see if he is willing to profile and glue up the top as well to save shiping the rim. either way you will have to ship the top he will have to ship the rim. I also believe that is an ongoing issue about the neck block, since John How, from what I understand is building and installing the neck and neck block. In my mind there is an issue there. To night I will post pm's to those involved as to how we get this body assembled. in other words, the order of events. Right now the way I understand thing the rim is bent and the tail block is glued up but there is no neck block on it yet. I can't see how Paul could glue up the back without the neck block installed. So Bruce, do I need to have Micheal (highdrawlics) send the abalone rosette material to you? He used the original in another build, but he said he had a couple more of the same ones from Andy D.

Yes, the addy top went back on the wall, we are going with a new top and will include the abalone into the new one.

I'm going to join up the new top tonight. So as soon as it makes it, I can proceed. Thanks a million.

Bruce Dickey, 1815 Skyline Dr., Russellville, AR 72802

I love abalone!

I don't know if the adi burst is dead and gone, but I have seen one of these on a quilted mahogany body and it looked great. -- just food for thought.

Also I have seen a black one (Montelene Black & Tan Mando) and that looked outstanding too.

Are you volunteering to Burst this baby?

I was informed by Michael that he'd made one of those Zecutive Decizions to go with a new top.

Michael is doing the French Polish por favor! So, since the addy required a cosmetic tune up, well, who can blame him, eh?

I have no problem with a new top, just sets us back a week or so. No biggie.

I just heard from Michael Propsom and he's sending Red Heart Abalone on Friday to dress this soundhole up to the NINES! Donated of course by our famous Okie Luthier Mr. Dave Rector. Thanks guys.

Ok... now I understand the issue with a burst. I guess I thought it was an aesthetics thing.

Bruce, since my bracing of the back has now turned to building the neckblock, blocking the rims, lining the rims, grinding the back rim, bracing the back and gluing the back on: I think I'd rather send the boat on to you for topping. I'll leave the top rim unprofiled so you can make it whatever raduis you want. The back is going to be 12'.
