My local hardware store has decided to stop carrying the 3/8 inch barrel nuts and accompanying bolts in the 1 and 1/4 length. (Cumpiano style neck joint) They actually have the barrel nuts in the 3/8 inch diamter but now only carry the bolts in the 1 and 5/8 inch length. I am in desperate need of about 24 of them in the 1 and 1/4 inch length. I remember a while back a post here about someplace where you could get them online. Does anybody know of a place I can get them or recall that post?

Did you try Rockler or woodworkers supply?

Hi Robbie!!
Have you checked with Ace Hardware?
They have the best selection of nuts and bolts and inserts I have ever seen.

Thanks for your prayers and well wishes too!!
I appreciate them very much.
Thanks for being a friend.
Walter

As 1 5/8" is longer than 1 1/4" you just have to cut them down. I always cut down the bolts to the exact length I want.

Walter,
Thanks for the suggestion and may you continue to heal quickly. I don't seem to have an Ace hardware close by so I think I will order from the place Bob suggested.
That's what I am looking for. Thanks a bunch Bob!!

I have a bunch, like 500, that are 1.25 (30 mm actually) 1/4 - 20 thread also Robbie if you are stuck. I have threaded inserts for them as well...just slow at posting them on the site! I think they are a whole $.25 per piece or $.85 for set of two bolts and two inserts (not the barrel nuts).

Bob, can you tell me if the threaded holes in these are centered on the cross dowel or offsett. They look like the are centered which is what I use.
TIA, John

Thanks for the reply Shane. I just got off the phone with the place Bob recommended and ordered 50 of them. The price is certainly good too. Apparently Cumpiano used to buy or still buys his from them.
JOhn, The hole does look to be centered. Good question cause you can find them off center as well.

I have been buying longer ones and cutting them down but I'd sure like to buy them 3/4" long with the hole centered.

Hi Colin

Screwfix.com carry them in lengths at 5mm increments, if it is of any interest look in fixings under furniture fixings.

Cumpiano changed the link from his site. It use to be this link and now it goes to Rockler where they are not cheap. Thanks for the link Bob.

Lee Valley has them as well.

John, the hole is indeed centered. I have ground down my share of these too and I am pleased that I don't have to do that anymore...

Mattia, I actually tried Lee Valley first (love 'em) but something about what they offered was not quite right. I don't recall what it was, exactly, perhaps the hole was not centered or the length of the dowel was not quite right.

The hole's not centred on the Lee Valley ones (I think...don't have them right here), but the quality's good. I can work around an off-centred hole, end of the day.

Woodcraft has some, but I don't remember if the hole is centered.

Russell, I buy all mine from Screwfix already, I use them for all sorts of fixtures and jigs as well as joining the neck on, even my router table insert sits on four screw heads screwed into inserts.

At ?1.80 (about a dollar)for 50 for inserts or cross bolts
and a bit less for the bolts, they are about the best value item I use.
