Okay, so I got my connector bolts and they are still a bit too long for my use...is there anything to cutting them off other than going at them with a hacksaw or Dremel wheel? How about the thread end? And do I need to taper the end of the bolt back the way it was originally?

I use a dremel wheel, then take a bastard file to sofen up the sharp edges a bit so the nut will thread on.

Thread the nut or cross dowel on to where you want to cut them, and cut up against the nut that way you will cut right on a thread, you don,t need to taper them.

I just take them to my 6" x 36" belt holdiing the bolt against the metal stop. Then on the edge of the belt I just put a small bevel to knock of the burr. Takes all of 10 seconds.

Dremael cut off wheel. file the edges free of burrs, then take the proper size nut die and chase the threads. If you don't have a tap and nut die set I Would get one. Well worth the money around the shop.

Anyway if you don't have one you can use an extra nut to chase the threads. but discard tha nut when done as the lead in threads will probably be no good afterward.

Thanks guys! I've gotten myself into a bit of restoration on my teen daughter's new (first) ride this morning...(1195 Dodge Stealth!!! )...but as soon as I get away from that, I'm gonna cut the bolts down...I appreciate the help!
