Do you guys think this would be a combo of yellow and white colortone
pigments from Stew Mac? I just finished leveling the finish on a tele I
gave up on out of boredom a few years ago, but now that I've got it ready
to buff, I want to do it the way I originally planned and refinish it in this
pale yellow. Right now it's just natural and boring. And just for curiosity
sake, does anyone know of cheaper pigments for laquer than the
colortones?    

This is where it's at now, but with leveled edges and still no buff. Boring.

Contact Bill at Guitar ReRanch and ask him for some advice. I don't know if that's Mary Kay white, faded Olympic White, or just white after the nitro's aged and yellowed...

James, I would follow mattia' advice on Reranch. I can't tell with the picture but can you see grain through the finish? If you can, you would have the blond finish. If not I feel its white with the aged yellow also.If its blond I would leave it alone....come to think of it, I would leave it alone if its REALLY old!

Thanks guys. It's probably some variant of white, but I really like the
yellowish hue it has in the color space I have my monitor calibrated to. I
like the idea of mixing my own color so I can mix it to my taste rather
than a preset, so to speak. I don't mind it being unstandard, necesarilly.
I'll get a hold of Bill to see what options there might be.

Fender had a color called Vintage White from the late 60' into the early to mid 70'. I think Reranch has reproduced this as Vintage Cream. Not quite sure this is what you need but its a really beautiful color and perfect for a Tele. Thought you might like to know this.

Stew-Mac has a new edition of the "Guitar Finishing Step-By-Step" book
out that covers a bunch of recipes for finishes used on both acoustic and
electric guitars (see the cover of the latest Stew-mac catalog). Even if it
doesn't have the exact color you are looking for, it looks like it would
have information on how to get the color you're looking for.
