I normaly like to use all wood binding and purfing on edges when possible. But there are a lot of bindings already laminated with plastic bottom purflings available. My question is when using a binding laminated with plastic purfling, what glue is everyone using

Interesting you ask this. I bound a maple guitar not long ago with ebony and plastic bwb purflings. I used Weldon. Everything stuck fine, but the problem was I scraped too early and some of the purflings crumbled away below the horizon of the wood. I ended up just drop filling with thick CA.

Now I do almost every combination with the water thin CA.

That was my thinking..Do you wick it in or apply and quickly attach?

I get everything taped in place nice and tight, and then wick in the water thin stuff. Use it sparingly. It is also wise to wipe your channels down with shellac before doing this. CA can wick into end grain and discolor the wood. After I have gotten used to this process I think it has made binding so much easier.

I always use Weldon when using plastic to wood. Works good for me.
