I'm busting my tail to get the 2 parlors closed up before I leave for another month in CA.

I'll be gone for the month of January and was thinking about what tools etc. I might need to carve the necks in my "spare time" in my apartment out there. I'm planning on shipping the 2 rough neck blanks (the FB plane and peghead are angled and surface finished) along with the following tools:
* Spokeshave
* Block plane
* Chisels
* Files and Microplanes
* Sandpaper
* Clamps
* Calipers & Scale
* etc.

Other questions:
1)What tools have I forgotten?
2) Should I rout the truss rod slot before doing all the carving?
3) Should I rout the tenon before doing carving and shaping?

Any other thoughts as to how I might pull this off would be appreciated...or is this task too ambitious?...TIA

YES, you should route the truss rod slot, as you'll need a square edge to work from. I think thats a great idea, something to do..

What Lance said... But also glue on a tapered fingerboard too, so you have it to carve to. Can you bring along a portable vice of some sort?

I think if you get the basics done like the guys above said you won't need many tools and can accomplish quite a bit. PLANNING is the word.

Maybe a couple of those cabinet scrapers will come in handy too.
