Brock & Lance...So far, I love the new format. Brock, you've done a great job and the improvement is significant. One thing I would rather see, however, are the topics listed on one page with the option of cascading the followups. This would make for the ability to quickly see what's happening without doing a lot of scrolling on the main page or pages. Check out "The Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum" to see how they do it.

Just wondering how others feel.

JJ,
I really streesed the fact that I wanted to keep the cascadeing threads all visiable at first glance. This way, in a quick pass i can see WHO responded..

Only problem I see is that even though I can see there have been new posts, I still have to scroll all the way through the forum to read them. Is it possible to jump directly to the post you want to see?

I am not really following what you are suggesting. I understand what you mean about scrolling up and down the page to follow the various threads, but that is how we are doing it now with the old software.

I am not getting what you are suggesting as an alternative.

I think what he means is that when you click on a link in the forum topics page it would be nice to have it jump to that message. The other thing that I noticed is that this forum has 5 pages but the topics page only shows 3 active, maybe show more than three or a last page link would be nice, so you don't have to scroll down and then pick the last page...

Just something to think about..

Cheers

Brock, I could be wrong here, but I think what Don means is that when you click on a thread (With in a topic) your taken to the top of that topic, instead of taken directly to the reply you clicked on, in other words, If I replied to a topic you started, and Don wanted to read MY response, he would click MY reply, but he is then taken to the top of the thread and has to scroll all the way through them all to get to the bottom, where my reply would be, rather than being directed right TO my reply, am I making any sense?

Let me clarify...There will be many topics under discussion at any one time. If the opening page...or pages lists those topics with the option of seeing them with the replies cascading, that would satisfy the need to view the entire body of posts (this is as it is now)... or for those who only want to initially view the topics on the opening page and then cascade specific topics, or all of the topics, they can do so. Can the preference section allow for such an option? I can certainly live with the system as is...but was just wondering.

Also, is it possible to have the formatting buttons work in the same manner as WORD documents, i.e., you highlight the word and punch the "B" button and it automatically bolds the word? Same for lists, centering, etc.

My issue is that while the tree shows the cascading of the messages and repiles, the order of these when you are actually viewing them looks nothing like the cascade. Any post to a thread will end up at the bottom, even a reply to a post farther up the tree. The Reply should post directly underneath the original post. As an example, Bruce posted a pic of some braced guitar tops, and I replied to that message saying the bridge plate looked thick. When I went to view the messages, they were miles apart, and seemingly had nothing to do with one another.

That was it.

JJ, go to the top and click on Active Topics. That will show the threads with new posts (non-cascaded).
