What size nut do you use the most? I know some players like a wider nut for finger picking and some like it tight for flat picks. What is your favorite? If you are a pro, log in the most popular size . Thank you very much for your input. |

I tend to go for 45mm, actually. 44mm on acoustics if people want a more 'trad' profile, and 42 or 43 mm for slimmer electric necks. |

im no pro, but ive never built a guitar that was not 1 3/4 or 1 7/8th. That is excluding my first which was 1 11/16th. |

For my stds its 1 3/4. My personal two are 1 7/8 and 1 13/16. Customers have asked for everything from 1 11/16 to 2 inches. |

Voted for 13/4 but actually, like Mattia go for 45mm normally on steel strings, it seems to be a sort of default figure. Colin |

I too, to do 1-3/4 nut except for my first. Finger style guys prefer it and strummers don't mind it. |

I'm not suprised the bigger sizes are winning out. I believe the 1 11/16 nut came from the first Martin steel strings about a hundred years ago. People have gotten a lot bigger since then so I'm guessing their hands have also. I know it is hard for me to play those small fingerboards, but then in reality, they all are.... |

1-3/"4 is my choice as well as most of my clients, though a lot have requested 1-11/16" and a few did not know they came in differnt widths |
