As far as sound goes, it's a toss-up between the Yairi handmade classical that I tried out in a music store in Redlands California, in 1974 and most recently, a Tacoma Roadking, spruce/EIR that I played for an hour at Fogt's Music in Sarasota, Florida, about five years ago. I was unable to afford either of them, but I can still hear them in my head. Neither sounded anything at all like the others of their kin that I've heard since. As far as looks go, I'll take one of those Breedlove 12 strings, like this one. Ah, well, I can't afford that one either — Dang! |

Hmmm.... Martin guitars would have to be my favorite, but with Lowden being a real close 2nd place. |

That cocobolo nearly got trashed. After resawing it, a major defect surfaced, you can see the tiny remnant of it on the lower right. The blackened area was much larger but got cut away. Also, the other strike against it was it's skinny size, only four inches. In case you didn't notice, this is a four piece back OSJ. It's together waiting on binding now. Thumping it makes me know, it'll be worth the trouble. It has a great timbre. Mark Kett's reverse kerf lining |
